1-3 The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live. – 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (MSG)
Here we are, just hours before the polls open for the 2016 General Election in the United States. During the campaign, there was plenty of fireworks…plenty of claims and accusations. Regardless if you are for the Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or Other…prayer is in order.
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)
The Bible is clear that it is the responsibility of every Believer to pray for their governmental leaders and their nation. Unfortunately, many have allowed themselves to be polarized by the campaign and even the candidates themselves. Nevertheless, that does not alleviate us from our responsibility to pray.
This country is in dire need of serious Godly leadership. The problems facing us are such that we cannot afford to be cavalier about them, nor resort to finger-pointing. We must remember that a prime tool of the enemy is to divide and conquer. We must pray for the power of God to prevail and give in to division.
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy… – John 10:10 (NLT)
Division is the ploy that has been used to keep the U.S. from healing from past wounds…be it economic, racial, gender, etc.
Therefore, it is imperative we collectively pray before we cast our vote and continue to pray for peace and civility throughout the nation tomorrow and during the aftermath of the election. Not only then, but we need to continue to pray for this nation and it’s leaders…whoever they may be.Have Faith1st ©2016 Faith1st Ministries
