“…for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”—1 Samuel 17:26 (KJV)
Will the people of God, who know their covenant rights, please stand up? Like David, we live in a world full of challenges, full of people, systems, and things that defy the holiness of God and His people here on earth. Many of these challengers were here before us and seem so much bigger than us. But it does not matter how big they seem to us, they are not bigger than or more powerful than our Lord God and His Christ.
“…Is there not a cause?”—1 Samuel 17:29
It is time for the children of God to stake our claim and rise up in this world and declare there is a cause! For too long, too many of us have stood idly by while the enemy—the devil—has wreaked havoc in our lives and in our world. You may ask, ‘what can I do about it?’ I will say that we can do a lot about these undesirable and down-right damnable things that are happening all around us.
How can I be so sure? It is because the Bible—the all-powerful, inerrant, life-giving, Word of the living God—tell us so on almost every page. The problem is religion has moved us so far away from the power of God that we have forgotten who we are and whose we are.
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.—1 Corinthians 2:5
Religion has taught us what we cannot do, and to wait for the trumpet to sound, so we can go to heaven. But it is time for a paradigm shift; it is time for us to return to believing in the power of God working on our behalf. It is time for our minds to be renewed to the things God say is possible. For the scriptures declare:
Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.—Romans 12:2 (Message)
We must be changed, if we are to make a difference in this world. The first step is to become so God-inside minded that we will not cower, nor will we fear anyone or anything that is ‘threatening’ us, our family, or anything we have authority over.
David understood that He and the whole nation of Israel had a Covenant with a God who does not break His Word under any circumstances. This allowed Him to take a stand against the “uncircumcised” giant. Circumcision represented the covenant they had with God; whereas, the giant nor did the Philistines have a covenant with God.
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.—1 Samuel 17:45-46
Therefore, like David, we have a covenant with God and we can trust Him to stand with us as we go out against the enemies of our lives and our world and take back our marriages, children, finances, and communities. So, be a David in this world of giants; take a stand and declare “our God reigns” and “Jesus is Lord” over every undesirable circumstance in your life!
You touch the very heart of the matter. Faith is lived – not “believed”. It is not big giants that we face all the time. Put parental controls on computers, turn the TV off when vulgarity appears, smile at the cashier, pray for the Pastor instead of critiquing the sermon, respect your spouse, volunteer, as God makes it possible feed people, clothe them, visit in hospitals and jails. Religion and culture have immobilized us with the Professional Syndrome, “you are not trained with expertise so you are worthless”. “I’ll show you my faith by my works…”. The finger of God is in this post.
Peace

Thank you my dear Brother! Your point that “religion and culture” having “immobilized us” is right on point. So many have checked their brains at the door where religion is concerned and have allowed men to determine our place, position and worth in God and this world.
Instead of learning how to allow our faith to mobilize us to action, we have become spiritual robots who only do what we are told we can do. It is time for a change!
