Are You at Risk of…?

Question Mark20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. 23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. 24 Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.

As I was recently riding in my car, I heard an advertisement on the radio asking: “are you at risk of…”? Hearing this reminded me of the constant pitches of fear-based information we receive on a daily basis. “Are you at risk of”…you can fill in the blanks.

The world we live in has always been riddled with fear but it is becoming increasingly so. It is totally up to us whether we will allow our minds to be filled with the poison that’s being sold. Yes, I said sold. Because nearly every time that question is asked, the sponsor has some great miracle medicine or service to sell us, and the only way to truly get our attention is to sell us fear first.

We live in a fear-based world that is designed to keep our eyes, ears, and our minds, fixed on problems and not on our God-given victory. In other words; society, as we know it, is not built on the spiritual principles found in the Bible. But our very lives depend upon said principles. We have the choice of following them or not…it is our choice alone.

Understanding this fact, we must learn to guard our hearts from this onslaught because what we take in will ultimately determine the course of our lives…junk in, junk out. No, this is not to alarm anyone to the point of fear—quite the opposite. It is, however, to put you on guard to watch what is trying to take you away from the Word of God and place you and I on a road of fear.

So, what do we do? We make the decision to follow God’s Word and receive the powerful victory given to us by God through Christ. Decide to resist the bombardment of fear and worry-based information coming to us constantly and look to the Word of God for every answer we need. Jesus told us: ‘Man is not to live on bread only. Man is to live by every word that God speaks.’—Matthew 4:4 (NLV).

Our answer to life’s problems and concerns can be taken from the Word and placed within the confine of our heart and mind through meditating on the Word. Doing this will put us in the position to resist any “risk”.

  2. It is very True Sebastian, what we sow we reap as the Scriptures you shared below confirm, if it is good yes as you said we will experience inner Joy which will bring Hope and Peace but if we do evil we will bring the harsh realities that come with it until we come to our senses.

Proverbs 4: 20 – 27 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.(KJV)

Jesus also told us we will have trouble in this world as Paul and His other followers did and we will also be persecuted when we follow Him, as He tells us in the Scriptures below and we will be tested and tempted by Satan who comes as an Angel of Light seeking to deceive us but in Christ Jesus we will be victorious, God protects our souls and no temptation will be greater than we can bear and if needed He will intervene and save us from death so we can do the good works He has prepared in advance for us to do as He did with the Apostle John and Paul and with others who followed Him than and through the following years and Now…

John 15:17-19 These things I command you, that ye Love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Luke 21:16-18 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my Name’s sake.

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?

Luke 6:21-23 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
