Marriage Monday: I Love You…Because

Holding HandsHusbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it—Ephesians 5:25

Today, I have something on my heart regarding marriage…so I’ll make it short and hopefully sweet.

Many married couples can tell you what they love about their spouse but fewer can tell you why. Well, let me give you a reason. Marriage was instituted by God; and when you pledge your heart to another, it should be in the love of God—as shown in the example of Jesus’ sacrifice for us.

The bible does not speak of spouses—as such—but rather husbands and wives. So, as referenced in the above verse: every husband, (wives too), should be able to say and show to their spouse: I love you, BECAUSE Christ loved us first.

In this day of breakups and divorce on demand, may every Christian couple be living examples of God’s love for us!

“As Christ loved”, to death, with deepest compassion, stick to the plan, sharing, caring… I find all these are missing from the extremists who want husbands to be bosses instead of loving companions. Important message here, in the “why”.
