Sow the Word in Your Heart

Sow the Word13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

14 The sower soweth the word. 15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, 19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

The Word of God is seed; when it is planted in the heart of a man, it produces. Now the extent to which it produces will depend upon the condition of that heart. This is the same thing nature teaches us in natural sowing and reaping. When a farmer wants a harvest he must put seed in the ground. Now the condition of the soil will determine the quality of the harvest.

If he wants the best harvest he can get for the amount of seed he places in the ground, he must make sure the soil is prepared to receive the seed. The farmer does this by tilling the soil to break up any hardness and remove rocks, roots, and the like. He also, adds nutrients as necessary to make it more usable and capable to aid in the nurturing of the seed that will be planted.

Likewise, we must prepare ourselves to receive the Word of God and work to keep the undesirable stuff out of our hearts so that the Word can grow and be fruitful in our lives. Many things we think and believe act like weeds and become Word killers. We must work to keep the weeds out that choke the Word that is planted in our hearts. Every unbelieving thing in us will become a weed to us. Resist the negative stuff and receive the True Word…the Word works.

God’s Word will work in us when we put it to work. Read your Word daily. Follow the promptings of the Spirit, Who will guide you to those verses that will encourage, inspire and direct you to what God is saying to you. Read those verses over and over; speak (confess) those words over and over, until faith rises in your heart. Then take that thing as yours without doubt.

It is no different than when we “confess” Jesus as Lord. When we do, the same transforming power is at work. However, if we refuse to accept the gift of God’s Grace, we will remain in the grip of sin and satan. Likewise, if we refuse to take God’s Word as truth for our present condition/circumstance, we will remain powerless when facing life’s difficulties.

Therefore, sow the Word, believe the Word, keep the junk out and believe God to bring it to pass in your life!

Yes we do and while we are memorizing the words, we must capture the truth it contains. It is the proper application of that Truth that makes a difference in our lives.

Great post. This is what I talk about alot in my blog. Bottom line is that God’s Word works — not only in creating faith, but also remaining in the faith.
