9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. 11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? 12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
There was a popular song years ago that said: “it takes two baby.” Yes, the union of marriage requires two hearts united together for the same purpose. However, God is the ‘glue’ that enables real success in this matter. The world’s idea of marriage is not God’s. In the world, we find every excuse to get out of the commitment we made when times get tough.
On the other hand, in the Word of God, we are taught marriage is between a man and woman for life. Of course there will be exceptions but they should be the exception and not the rule. It takes courage to weather the storms of life. But when they come, we have help and strength through the Word of God.
Let us unite with our spouse with a determination not to allow the enemy room to destroy our marriages. He will not have the space to get in if we keep God at the center of our thoughts and relationships. When we make Him the center, together we will have a cord wound together that cannot be broken.
It takes three…two is not enough!
