Have Faith in the Goodness of God 2

God's Goodness 2 [What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!—Psalms 27:13 (Amplified)

The goodness of God is a firm reality! However, it can only be real in your life if you exercise faith in it. How do you have faith in God’s goodness? Glad you asked. The goodness of God is expressed throughout the scriptures and that is where our search will start and finish.

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.Genesis 1:1-4

The goodness of God is seen in the Creation. God took chaos and began to set order to it by calling light to where there was darkness and saw it as good. In other words, one indication of God’s goodness is He creates good things. We can take this model throughout the Bible and not only see the goodness of God but also, trust that goodness for our lives as well.

2 Then a man suffering from a dreaded skin disease came to him, knelt down before him, and said, “Sir, if you want to, you can make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out and touched him. “I do want to,” he answered. “Be clean!” At once the man was healed of his disease.Matt. 8:2-3 (Good News Translation)

The thing we must understand is that God is always good and is always willing to bless us. This is shown to us in the verse above. The leprous man was constantly being rejected by society and had heard that Jesus was healing sick folk. Not being sure if Jesus would heal him, he prefaced his prayer with, “if you want to”. Jesus expressed the goodness of God with, “I do want to…be clean.” God is good and is always willing to express that goodness to the entire world. We have to come to Him in faith of His goodness.

It’s impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him.—Hebrews 11:5-6 (Message)

It is important to note that God requires us to “walk by faith and not by sight”—2 Cor.5:7. One of the major things we must have firmly planted in our hearts is the goodness of God. We must hold on to this for dear life because our lives and livelihood really depends upon it. Daily we see more evidence of our, and the world’s, need for God. We must believe, not only that He exists, but that He “cares enough to respond” to us as we turn our hearts and minds toward Him.

My friend, God really cares for us and desires good for us every day. So let us come to Him in faith and with faith in Him and His goodness. If we do this, we will see a change in the results of our godly expectations.

Father, we thank you for your goodness. Help us to receive your best for us by realizing and accepting that you are good through and through. We appreciate and love you! Amen!

  1. When I began teaching on the goodness of God in healing services, I saw more miracles and healings than before. As people understood God’s goodness, they found it easy to trust Him. That trust enabled them to open their hearts to His healing power. When they saw from the Word that it was the “Father’s good pleasure to give” them the kingdom ( Luke 12:32 ) and that “no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly” ( Psalms 84:11 ), they realized God was for them and not against them. The truth dawned on their hearts that He was not holding out on them. He was not trying to keep healing away from them. Instead, because He loves to do good, He was endeavoring to help them. Seeing that, they were able to relax and by faith receive what they needed from Him.

Great witness! It further proves where the Word says: “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” We must teach and preach the truth of the Word if people are to ever receive God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and His Blessing. Thank you for this! Blessings!

  2. God is Good says:

God is Good! The scriptures reveal it, and if we look for it we can see it throughout our lives … I think half the trick is to look for it too … there are times where he whispers (His hand seems hidden but you can see His thumb print on a situation, blessing etc) and then there are the shouts (which most of us cannot miss) … and if we cannot find the goodness in our own lives then I believe we must look for it in another’s life and celebrate that … and as we do we will see it come to pass in our own because God is Good!

A very reasoned argument with rational technique. Of course, I’m being sarcastic, not because this isn’t true, but because you promote faith that takes us way beyond mere human thinking into multi-dimensional living. Your faith will keep you solid, as it will for anyone. Thanks.

  7. A wonderful message Sebastian, without faith we can’t see, it’s all dark, God brings the Light and He is the only Healer, regardless of what tool He uses or vessel.
