We Have Been Made Free

Set Free (Hands)There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.Romans 8:1-2 (KJV)

This is a follow-up to my post on Guilt-Free Living.

Make no mistake; if you are in Christ, you have been made free. It is important to understand, believe, and receive this for your life.

Life is full of mess, and all of it is designed to keep you and I from reaching our God-given potential. It really does not matter if it is past abuse, poor habits, low self-esteem, addictions, or anything else. There is a purpose in it all, and that is to keep us down and thereby hinder the growth of the Kingdom of God…first in us and then in the whole world.

But I am here to tell you that whatever is holding you back and keeping you down, really don’t have the power to hold us unless we allow it. Seriously, we have to take responsibility for our lives. Sure, these things are factual and may have happened to you, but they don’t have the final say…the Word of God does!

However, the Word can only do for you what you allow. This is important to note because far too many are still waiting for the Lord to do what He has already done. For instance, what if you or I have worked and now it is payday and the employer has deposited our pay into our account; would we stand there waiting for another deposit? If we did, we would be standing for a long time because the employer will not purposely pay us again for the same work. Likewise, Jesus has already paid the price to make us free…now and forever!

So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.John 8:36 (Amplified)

I know that may be simplistic but I want you to understand that God has already—through Christ—forgiven us, loved us, freed us, healed us, prospered us, and so much more! We have to stop giving mental assent to this and accept it as truth in and for our lives. Failure to do so opens the door to disappointment, disillusion, and defeat, on a daily basis. This is not God’s Will for us…EVER!

Consequently, my point is to say: whatever you are facing, regardless of what it is, you have been made free already. Seek the Lord; ask His guidance as to what you may need to do next, and then do it—without delay. Your life and the lives of those around you may depend on your obedience to this word from God!

30 As he spake these words, many believed on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.John 8:30-32 (KJV)

Father, enlighten our minds and hearts to the Truth that we have been made free from the ills of this life already…through the precious, sacrificial, blood of Jesus. Thank you for this in Jesus’ name…Amen!

  2. I agree; Joseph Prince rocks!

So many Christians today think that it is God’s Will that keeps them sick and miserable, and this has kept many from receiving the healing that the Lord has already paid for. (Yes, the Lord can use you when you are sick, but it is not His Will for you to BE sick in the first place. There is a big difference between the two!) The devil has come to steal, kill and destroy, and Jesus has come so that we may have life, and have it more abundantly. The thought that our God would want any of His children to be sick or miserable, is nothing but a lie straight from the pit of hell!

So I thank you for posting this article of yours. I have found many ‘bubble gum’ Christian blogs out there in the web that lack the life and depth of the Holy Spirit. Yours is one that is clearly filled to the brim with the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. May God continue to use you for His glory, His people, His honor, and His kingdom, and may you stay fast to Him, tucked under one of His wings…

Truly, I am humbled by your kindness. I seek to be led by the Spirit of our Lord to minister to His people on every level.
I agree with you and appreciate you and your heart of faith. Far too many Christians living far beneath the power of God’s Word and Will for their lives. May the Lord use us to awaken many more! Blessings!

  4. Very True Sebastian, we have indeed been set free from the punishment of our past sins and from the bondage of sin in Christ Jesus as the Scriptures confirm …

    Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To say we will go on sinning because we are only human after we have come to heart repentance is as you said Sebastian denying we have been set free…

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a servant to sin. Now a servant has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

We are showing if we continue to sin we are still in bondage and not reckoning ourselves dead to sin, there is indeed no condemnation when we walk in the Spirit not the flesh, this we must put to death.

Romans 8 :12-15 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. or if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

We can’t earn our Salvation but we will show we have it….

Romans 6:22-23 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto Holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

If we Love God and others we will choose not to sin and be empowered by The Holy Spirit not to.

Romans 6 : 1 – 2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

We don’t walk in the flesh we walk in The Spirit…

Colossians 3:4-6 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

All of that is good Anne! When we turn our hearts towards faith (adherence), in the Truth found in the Word, we will know what it is to be righteous and to live so. As always, thank you for your responses! 🙂

Loved how you said it was time to quit giving mental consent to everything Jesus accomplished for us. It has to be how we live our lives from the heart. Thanks for your post.

I don’t know how familiar you are with Joseph Prince, but I regularly listen to his teaching and find great encouragement. He’s quite brilliant at expounding on scripture, giving us the Greek or Hebrew roots, and even magnifying the tense of certain words–for example (I don’t have the chapter and verse handy, sorry!) he said we are not simply “cleansed” by Jesus blood, but we are “continually being cleansed as though in a fountain”. That’s bound to lift you out of any snare of condemnation, right?!! God bless you and your family–love, sis Caddo

Yes, I am familiar with Joseph Prince and I admire his ministry.
You are right, the ‘cleansing’ power of the Blood of Jesus definitely has the ability to “lift” us up and out of condemnation but it is up to us to receive and walk in it daily.
The enemy of our souls, “as a roaring lion”, is constantly trying to “snare” us…condemnation and guilt is just a couple of tools in his tool chest. We must learn to resist him daily!
Blessings to you and your family as well…love you too!
