Pray for the Pope

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior1 Timothy 2:1-3 (New Living Translation)

The Catholic Church has a new spiritual leader, Pope Francis I. Now, in light of the above scripture and as faithful Christians, let us be mindful to fulfill our responsibility to pray for all, and specifically in this case, for this Pope. Let us pray that the Will of God be done in his life and that he will be led by the Holy Spirit of God as he leads.

Let us pray:

Father, we lift up Pope Francis I before you, for his health and guidance, as he takes up the mantle of leadership for the Catholic Church. We ask that you will lead, strengthen, and encourage him in this enormous task. We pray that he will forever trust and lean upon you for all that he need.

In Jesus’ Name we pray.

Amen

  2. Thank you for this post. I don’t know what everything coming out about this New Pope means, but I do know I have an urgency in my heart to pray for him, and for the Catholic church, as a whole. Satan is trying to divide the body of Christ, and we must be vigilent in prayer. I have myself, had to ask God for forgiveness in jumping to conclusions. But I will continue to watch, and pray for knowledge, wisdom and guidance for all. Thanks for being a voice for God! God Bless you.

You’re welcome! Thank you for praying. Do you know that prayer is an act of love? Love is the fulfillment of the Commandments of God. Far too many Christians have majored on judgement rather that love! If we spend our time with a heart of love, then we will pray for others and when we are praying, we won’t have time to judge. Thank you for being truly Godly, for “God is Love.”

Though I am not Roman Catholic and or fanatic about any denomination, I agree with my whole being. Prayer has value, especially for a Pope, and I have seen it work in the past. And Francis I, living a life of poverty, will endure many temptations and pressure.

  6. Pope Francis was ordained a jesuit priest in 1969. No Jesuit priest has every been a pope. I’ve never met a jesuit that I didn’t like. They are dedicated to a religious life, education and missionary work. Jesuits prefer simple lifestyles using just what they need. I doubt the grandeur of Rome is his thing. Let’s hope he can bridge all Christian faiths. Something that is desperately needed in this secular world.
