Let Love Be Your Guide

Love One Another34-35 “Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.”John 13:34-35 (MSG)

There is so much going on in the world that demands a response! Some of these things hit us at the core, others not so much. When responding, as Christians, we must remember who we are and Whose we are!

As Christians, we do not have the luxury of responding like any ungodly person would. We are the called out ones, the redeemed, the ones called to show forth the love of God.

God loves the world, but how can they know it if we refuse to express that love when faced with the challenges of living in this world. These challenges may be toward us directly, our neighbor down the street, across our cities, nation, or on the other side of the globe! God expects us to rise above it all and show the hope we have within ourselves. Is it easy? Of course not; if it were, then everyone would do it.

People, we have hope because we have a Savior! All is not lost; we just have to do the Book…because we are people of the Book. The Bible tells us to be examples of God’s love. If we are to do that, we must receive that love for ourselves, in every aspect of our lives and live it out for all to see. We are to be lights in a darkened world.

God’s grace and mercy was shown to us through His love. Can we exhibit that same love on some level? Can we show mercy on some level? It is time we do because time is running out. The clock is ticking, do what you can while you can. Show some love in your home, on your job, in your community and church. Pray for someone you know and someone you don’t. Ask God to forgive others as you ask Him to forgive you.

Let’s be the examples of God’s love in every aspect of our lives…everyday! Jesus did not pre-qualify us prior to laying down His life; He gave His life freely and willingly so we could escape the judgment of a righteous God. Can we show love to someone who may not deserve it (or so we think)? It is time for a change…it is time to let love be our guide!

I love you all!

  1. God is so funny how He challenges me in this area. One of the many ways is at work. There is rarely a time when I am completely in brotherly love with everyone at work. Gid always seems to place someone there that really tries me. Yet, when i learn to truly love them and accept them as created in His image, just like me. God seems to bring someone else into the picture. Like a never ending game for me, teaching me toalways dig deeper into God’s bottomless barrel of Love!

Thank you for this comment! If more Christians would only learn that the love of God is limitless and rules over all. There is nothing more powerful that the love of God!

The point is: when we dig into, as you say, “God’s bottomless barrel of Love”, we are prepared to deal with and be a light to those who may be somewhat unlovely.

Blessings to you on your journey!

Thank you for this reminder. As disciples of Christ, there should be a difference in how we carry ourselves. We are in the world, but we are not of the world.

  3. So very true and thank you for the blog follow! much obliged 🙂

  4. Sebastian, The command to love as Christ loves is a standard set so high none can attain it in of themselves. The only way I can love like this is to surrender my will. I must let the Holy Spirit reform it into Christ’s will. That I have found I must do daily, deny my self and take up my cross and follow Him. As Jesus prayed in the garden, “Not my will but Yours My Father be done.” Amen

  5. God bless my brother.

    Merry Christmas!
