The Gospel Reveals the Believer’s Authority 2

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.—Romans 1:17 (KJV)

Don’t be ashamed of the Gospel…it is the “power of God” to each and every Believer! This power gives us authority over all satanic power: every type of oppression, sickness, disease, poverty, lack, mental instability, family disturbances, and so on!

Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.—Luke 10:19 (Amp)

Look at what it says; “…over all the power that the enemy [possesses];” When Adam sinned, he gave his authority over this world to satan, but Jesus took that authority back forever—never to be lost again—and gave it to the Believer so we can rule and reign in this life as kings!

For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).—Romans 5:17 (Amp)

Death reigned over this world and mankind within it because of Adam’s sin. Just take a glimpse at the Garden of Eden prior to the fall of mankind; there was no death, sickness, or lack, before sin and that was the way God intended it to be forever. However, Adam bought into the lie of satan who had already lost his place, (that’s for another time). Due to Adam’s disobedience, mankind and the earth fell under the curse of death.

Have you ever wondered why the people of old lived so long? They did not know how to die! Man was never intended to die. Although the curse was in the earth, it took time for the whole earth to experience the full effect of it. Now the curse is on auto-pilot; death and disease is running rampant, poverty and lack is everywhere, natural disasters abound, people have lost their minds, (literally and figuratively)…BUT GOD did not leave us without hope!

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.—Romans 5:8 (KJV)

Only a loving God would return such a gift after it was literally handed-over to an enemy. Once He got it back, He could have kept it to Himself but He didn’t. However, God did not leave it to chance for man to do the right thing. This time He showed His love in a way that it would stand for all eternity. Knowing the debt of sin had to be paid, God allowed Jesus to sacrifice His life so we could live in the way He intended us to from the beginning—in full authority. God did not require us to get ourselves together first; He paid the debt ahead of time and wiped the slate clean, once and for all!

This is why we can, through faith, enjoy the benefits of being His sons without fear, guilt and shame! We have been grafted into the family of God and we belong there! Like the prodigal son, once we turn our mind and heart towards the Father, we will find ourselves in full fellowship and positioning of sonship and enjoy all the benefits of such.

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.—Matthew 16:19 (Amplified)

God has given us the authority to act on His behalf in this earth. He has given us the “keys to the kingdom of heaven” and the authority to use His authority here on earth. Keys represent authority. Anyone who has the keys to anything is understood to have the authority or right to go in or out or use it as his authority dictates. Well, our Father declared that this authority will allow us to bind and loose with heaven’s support.

In other words, whatever has been stated out of line with God’s Will, we have the authority to declare it to be out-of-order or unlawful here on earth and the other way around as well. We discover the Will of God in His Word. Sickness, disease, poverty, and lack, is unlawful in God’s eyes because He did not intend us to ever experience it.

Therefore, declare it to be so in your life as well! You can do it—if you have received the free grace of salvation. Do not allow the enemy to steal anything else from you any longer. Take authority over your health, your finances, your marriage, your family, your community, and so on! We have been given the authority and God intends us to use it daily until our lives are a reflection of heaven on earth!

  1. Hi Sebastian. So great to have you follow my blog. Love the way you focus on the gospel. I’d like to comment about something else, if I may. It’s is not always possible for us to share the truths the Lord reveals to us. Life’s so busy. Congregations are very often too big. And when we attend cell group there’s always the chance that we will have to rethink Sunday’s message; or follow a program, rather than sharing Christ with each other.
What is so wonderful about blogging, especially the type of blogging you do, is that we get to hear each other’s heart, and to feed on Christ Jesus in a way that isn’t always possible in other forums.
I love considering the gospel. It’s awesome.

  2. Thank you is all I can say right now…Thank you!

Hi Sebastian, thank you for your message and as you so rightly shared we have God’s Authority in Christ Jesus to correct , rebuke and warn as well as walk victoriously, we have been set free and this will be shown in our lives when we are Born again ( see below ) We know that the Disciples did not focus on worldly wealth but they were provided for and this is indeed a promise of God to all His heart children, as we Trust in Him. The Scriptures also tell us that Paul and Timothy suffered from physical complaints but God helped them endure and so He will with us as we age and experience the ageing process, if Jesus does not return before, we do not normally die of nothing, nor do babies, as you said it’s the fall but God can intervene and often does, as well as He uses the blessings He has given us, such as Medicine and natural products etc, all good things come from Him but whatever He uses, He is the only Healer, even if there is deception from Satan.

1 John 3:9 No one who is Born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been Born of God.

God tells us to be prepared for the good works He has planned for us to do ( see below ) but very True as you said Sebastian, Jesus did not wait for us to be perfected before He saved us through His death which He willingly did in obedience to the Father, not my will but yours be done because He Loved The Father and us and knew what the cost eternally would be for us if He didn’t.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 2:20-21 But in a great House there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the Master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Christian Love from both of us – Anne

  4. I may be wrong, a key has no power of its self. A key must be use to unlock or lock, turn on or turn off, open or close, some thing or some one. So a key is used to unlock the power of heaven to flow into us and out into The world to bring Glory to Jesus? James

  5. Lyn Leahz says:

It couldn’t have been said better. We oftentimes do not utilize the authority and the power through the Holy Spirit God gave us, therefore allowing Satan and his wicked badn of brothers to trample around all over us when we should be the ones trampling all over them. God bless you, and thanks for the awesome post brother Sebastian.
