Note to Self: Don’t Quit

This is a poem I first heard many years ago; it came to my mind the other day amid experiencing the trials of life. There are many who have quit and so many more who are contemplating quitting. My only advice is…hang in there, trust God, and DON’T EVER QUIT!!!

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Hi Sebastian, a very good Poem and we also need to remember that sickness and hardship do not come from God they are part of the fall, all He created was very good, yet sadly many blame Him and reject the Scripture as shown on my Post ( see link below) and there are many others that confirm that God is Love and does no evil. http://freedomborn.wordpress.com/2012/06/23/the-story-of-pearls-2/

He uses the fruit of the Spirit to mould and shape us and for putting the flesh to death as we walk in them by His empowering but all things work for good, not that God uses suffering and hardship or plans it so He can mould and shape us but during those times as this Poem you shared tells us and the Scriptures confirm, we show our faith in Him by Trusting and believing that He will rescue, and strengthen us, sadly some turn away and yes as your poem said they give up but this shows they never had Salvation in the first place as the Scriptures also confirm, perhaps though they will search for Him and return like the Prodigal son did.

It amazes me that so many still Trust in man’s own fleshy understanding and what others have taught them and ignore or reject God’s Truth in the Scriptures, like the ones on my Post link above, they would prefer to believe God does evil to bring good out of it even though the Scriptures tell us this is slander to even claim it about other Christians., but they can repent and ask for God’s wisdom so they will know the Truth and He will set them free.

    Christian Love Anne.

Hi Anne! Thank you for the response. You make a good point on the things people blame God for that He absolutely does not do! However, it is through the scriptures that we learn the love and character of God as we seek to become more like Him! Thank you again for adding to the discussion! –Sebastian

To be excited to do God’s good work, and WANT to help people is so awesome! Our Pastor at Good News Church this morning had a great sermon about not being complacent and that God wants us to grow in his love … and then to see your post today, makes me want to climb higher on my faith journey hill and not fall back. Thanks and have a great rest of Sunday!

Great poem and great advice! People never got anything done by only talking about it! That’s nice but action is the most important part.

Thank you and you are right! The bible clearly states that “faith without works is dead…”! We absolutely MUST put action to our faith and keep at it! In other words do not quit! God bless!
