Why I Find Serving God Attractive

4 The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens. 5 Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high , 6 Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! 7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; 8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people. 9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.—Psalm 113:4-9 (KJV)

Defining the word attractive is not difficult; it does not have many variations with many different meanings. Of what is used to define attractive, I like this: arousing interest or pleasure.

Because the word attractive or attractiveness usually has a carnal connotation attached to it, many may not think that one should consider God as attractive; but I do find that His attributes are attractive to me and they arouse my interest and give me pleasure. Here is why…

He Loves Us –

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish , but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom. 5:8)

He Delivers Us –

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still , and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. (Exodus 14:13)

He Gives Us Hope & Peace

17(As it is written , I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed , even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were . 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken , So shall thy seed be21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised , he was able also to perform . (Romans 4:17-21)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth , give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled , neither let it be afraid . (John 14:27)

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

So, I find serving God attractive…How about you?

Yes Sebastian I like that thought that we serve an attractive God. For surely all His attributes are the goals for each of us to build our lives on, and arn`t they all attractive ? I think so , sure makes serving Him that way. We can learn from our past and not make the same mistakes, we may not like what we did but it does not have to pull us down, we no longer have the shame but nor do we laugh about it, great for keeping us humble and so having compassion for others, helps others see there is Hope too.

We will be in touch when we get back

Amen, Sebastian. I too find Christ attributes to be desirable! Who wants to be cranky, snarly, and ponder past offenses. Ewwww! Praising God — He is very attractive!
    God Bless You!

I have “done” a number of things in my time. Far and above all has been the privilege of serving God.
