In Times of Trouble

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. – Ephesians 6:10 (Amplified)

It seems everywhere you turn someone is talking about how hard things are! And you don’t have to look far to see why they are saying that. But I have good news…there is hope! Regardless of how depressing things may look, whether on the outside or even right in your own house, God has a word for you—be strong!!!

“Be strong in the Lord”—this is what He wants us to know and do. It is not our power that influences change; it is His power and our trust in it. We have to plug into God as you would plug your computer or any appliance into an electrical source for power. Even batteries don’t last forever…they must be recharged!

Don’t wait for trouble to come, don’t wait for darkness to fall, get into God now! The verse above in the Amplified Version tells us to “draw your strength from Him”; Psalms 121:2 tells us that our help “cometh from the Lord”. Isn’t that exciting? We don’t have to struggle trying to make our own way, we can lean and rest upon a God who never tires or takes a break! What’s more, He gives us this power when we are united with Him.

Now is the time to plug into the Lord with increased frequency. I don’t know about you but I don’t like my batteries to run low. Whether it is my cell phone, laptop, or tablet—I am constantly plugging in. I don’t want to be in the middle of something and lose power. I believe it is the same in the spiritual.

We would not want to be facing a situation in which we need the strength of the Lord residing within us, but we are devoid of power because we have been unplugged for too long. That is not what God wants for us!

Therefore, let us take heed to the Word of the Living God and be ever mindful that we can overcome any obstacle or source of trouble, if we will only draw our strength from the source of ALL strength and power. If we do this we will be able to stand regardless!

Thank you Sebastian that was a wonderful message of hope…. It has been very hot in Queensland over the last few days, so I went to turn my Aircondioner on but the batteries were flat and I could not get the back off the remote control to replace them which meant that I suffered in the heat all day but I tried again yesterday and got the back off and replaced the batteries, and I have a much cooler outlook today.

Your message made me think of this, I had the Aircondioner and the remote control but no power so I suffered, Jesus tells us we don’t have because we don’t ask or we ask with the wrong motives. God tells us if we ask for the Holy Spirit He won’t give us a snake , everything good comes from God.

Thank you again Sebastian for a great focus – Christian Love Anne

  5. So true. Of ourselves we are powerless and hopeless, but God has supplied us with His own power. All the resources of heaven are at our disposal – but we need to take and use what He has given.
